You Decide - Fireflight

14-08-2006

I listen to a hell of a lot of music and own a huge collection of all genres but with a heavy lean towards rock and metal. But even with such a big collection I find myself constantly becoming bored and searching for something new to listen to.

Some time ago I set myself up with a Pandora account so that I could listen to new music while surfing. With Pandora you tell it what music you currently listen to and it suggests similar music you may like. I’ve found a lot of new bands and artists over the last year through this site. Sort of try before you buy if you will, something I find impossible in today’s high street stores.

Of course I failed to mention that Pandora is supposed to be for Americans only. That said, it does not employ any tactics to check that your IP is actually located in the States. All you have you do is register for an account and type in random characters and a US zip code. I always use 90210 because it’s the only one I can remember.

Pandora makes its money from Amazon because if you like the music it plays for you, then you can buy it with the click of a mouse at Amazon.com. Obviously I don’t do this because I live outside of the States but I do buy the music at Amazon.co.uk so the money is (almost) going to the right place.

Anyway I was listening to Pandora today and I was presented with a song by 'Fireflight' entitled 'You Decide'. It was suggested in my Evanescence-like listening station. A few seconds into the track and I knew I would be buying the album. Check out the band and listen to their music on their home page. You can also check out the ‘You Decide’ video on their myspace web page. The video is very simply made and the male singer looks suspiciously like Wes with vampire teeth and a flair for drama. Or maybe its just me. You decide.
