Downtime

10-05-2007

On the 1st of May the Detox server went offline. I emailed the administrator several times but received no response. That's nothing new as I think he's responded to only two of my emails in the last two years. I kept trying but in the end I realised that you get what you pay for and it was time to upgrade to a more reliable service. I instigated a move to a new host, which has now completed. Luckily I keep an off-line copy of Detox, but not the index.html. No, that is generated by a script which will not run on my new host (I hand-crafted this one from an old copy). So while I sort things out I'm putting the comic updates on hold for a short period. Don't worry, you won't have to wait too long for the next comic as I have plenty of time to sort things out, which brings me to..

The company I was working for needs to lay of staff to reduce costs and so they are having to make people redundant. Cutting a long (and dull) story short, I took voluntary redundancy. The payout will allow me to take the summer off and catch up on all the things that I couldn't find the time to do when I was working. So one of the things I'll be doing is giving this web site an overhaul. First though I'm going to take some time to do.. very little. Yep, I'm going to relax and chill out with one or five glasses of chilled cider, a good book, and my BBQ and garden. Well, just as soon as I finish Tomb Raider : Angel of Darkness. I'm on level 22 and I've died oh.. about a thousand times so far. Did anyone test this game or what?
